Formed in the late 1990s, Karnataka have emerged as one of the UK's most innovative new rock bands. Unrestrained by musical boundaries, the dramatic, multi-layered soundscapes created by the band combine with haunting vocal melodies to take the listener on an inspirational journey.

The band's first two albums ('Karnataka' 1998, 'The Storm' 2000) have attracted a growing worldwide audience and gained considerable attention from all aspects of the music media, including radio, magazine and internet features in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In the UK Karnataka have received the recognition they deserve with Best New Band (2000) and Best Female Vocalist (Rachel Jones for an unprecedented 3 years running in 2000, 2001 & 2002) awards from the Classic Rock Society. 'The Storm' was featured as Album Of The Week on BBC Radio Wales and has received repeated airplay on the Bob Harris Radio 2 show.

Karnataka have built up a reputation as an outstanding live band and they continue to bring their music to a wider audience with constant touring in the UK and abroad. Their performances continue to garner rave reviews - the band received the Classic Rock Society's Gig Of The Year award for 2001. Their extensive touring has included prestigious European concerts with Porcupine Tree and culminated in the release of their live DVD " Karnataka - Live in Concert ", filmed at London's Mean Fiddler and premiered at Planet Hollywood in the capital's West End. The band have recently performed in the USA at an acoustic concert in Manhattan and also at the Patriots Theatre in New Jersey at The Classic Rock Festival. The latter concert was filmed for release in 2003 on DVD.
